In precedenza Thomas ha fatto parte del reparto marketing e strategia di Schneider Electric, in cui ha guidato i lavori su Smart Cities e Smart Grid per l'azienda in Cina. Prima di entrare in Schneider Electric, è stato consulente presso il Boston Consulting Group, durante il quale ha lavorato a progetti in vari settori industriali, tra cui quello bancario, della supply chain e farmaceutico. Thomas si è laureato presso la Judge Business School dell'Università di Cambridge e ha conseguito una laurea in ingegneria con specializzazione in matematica applicata e ricerca operativa presso l'Ecole Polytechnique in Francia.
